"Rusich" kennel
a live tradition in Russia
Hunting with Russian wolfhounds bears a storm
of emotions - it is a beau-tiful passion. However, it is not a chaos
whatsoever. Tactics of hunting of that kind requires a thorough
coordination of hunters' actions. "If procedure is broken there
will be no pleasure" - used to say in old times true hunters
in the period of Russian tsars.
Irina Korshunova, the owner of the "Rusich"
kennel, President of the Russian Association of races and tests
of wolfhounds", President of old Russian "Borzois Voennoy
Ohoti" Club, expert(fields, race, show) one of few in Russia who
continues traditions
of old Russian hunters. Hunting for her - is her family's tradition:
her father, grandfather and great grandfather, Irina's husband are
also hunters. Nowadays her sons - Igor, Oleg and small Ivan are
already trying their strength in hunting with wolfhounds.
For near 15 years Irina has been professionally
breeding Russian wolfhounds, dogs from "RUSICH", beginning
with 1998 (when representatives of Russia started to take part in
international championships) one can see wolfhounds among prize-winners
at championships races of the World and Europe.
The "RUSICH" has been established on
the basis of several parent ages. The one of them is the descent
from the German - kennel V.BERGRAND (set up in 1935, the owner -
Charlotte Zabel), which, in its turn, takes its origin from the
well known Pershin hunting. The another some - the descent of the
national wolfhound breed.
This excellent working descent is not inferior
to Pershin offspring by exterior and rich in really good dashing
dogs (such as Ch.Zlata, ,RUSCh Chervona Yazva, Najan).
But even great successes at exhibitions and cinodroms
will not induce Irine to leave this or that dog in the nursery for
breeding until it passes the main exam - in an open field, in the
hunting season. An exam: to catch a dashing hare (that is
very fast and crafty). Dogs, which managed to catch a hare, themselves
get a nickname dashing. A dashing dog does not know obstacles, it
catches "like on a carpet". A hare before a dashing dog,
looks hobbling. If a wolfhound catches such a hare alone it is called
a hunter. If a wolfhound is able to overdo the beast (a hare, a
fox, a wolf), having guessed its manoeuvre and met it from the front,
tradition requires to call such dog a master. There are its own
master, hunters. As for dashing, they are alt the same. They do
not keep others.
